Pensacola Beach Water
Tower. Although this tower is no longer used to store water it is
an iconic symbol of Pensacola Beach. Maintenance on the structure
runs approximately $13,000-$14,000 per year and the Santa Rosa Island
Authority has the responsibility for repainting it as needed.
|
|

Toll Booth at the entrance
of Pensacola Beach. The toll is $1. The toll is paid only upon
entering the beach. The toll facility was heavily damaged by both
Hurricanes Ivan and Dennis and has since been updated. This toll
booth is the Western entrance to Santa Rosa Island. The East end
of Santa Rosa Island is home to Navarre Beach, Florida and another toll
free bridge is located there. Highway 399 is now open that
connects Navarre Beach and Pensacola Beach and offers stunning view of
the Gulf of Mexico

Historical Pensacola
Beach sign in Gulf Breeze pointing the way to Pensacola Beach.
The sign was moved in 1961 from its
original location on top of a building on the southwest corner of
Gregory and Palafox streets in downtown Pensacola to its current
location on U.S. 98. This famous sign has pointed visitors
and locals alike toward Pensacola Beach for over 40 years and has only
been replaced once in that time. In Nov. 2003, the original sign was put
up for auction and became a decoration for Flounder's Chowder House on
Pensacola Beach.
The sign has
been totally overhauled from the damages it received from Hurricanes
Ivan, Dennis, Katrina, and numerous tropical storms.
